This book is super great. Its sad yet tells the story of a young boy named Robert Peck around the age of 12 or 13 who just has a down right Shaker life. His father butchers pigs and he has to help with the chores around the house. One day he finds a cow in the middle of choking on a goiter, giving birth, and ramming through the forest. Rob kindly helps the cow give birth and tells his neighbor [[who owns the cow]] about it. Mr. Tanner [[the neighbor]] gives Robert a baby pig for all his work, and the rest is history. This is just a great book to read if you like a tad of humor and lots of deep emotions.

This book was funny when are teacher read us this book. I loved the little pig it sounded so cute. It was sad at the end. But Rob becomes a man you could say.

i totally agree with Noelle K '09. Pinkie is a cutie and Rob becomes the leader of the family in the end.

This was a great book but it was really sad when.... I probably shouldnt tell you that you will have to read this book for yourself it is one of the best
This was a really good book (i thought) because he was a good boy who was a shaker and he also at the end realized why that was a good thing.
I totally agree with you guys this was a really good book. It was kind of gross in some parts but for the most part it was a really good story i would recomend it if you need a good book to read. Plus it isnt that long so it shouldnt take you to long!!! :)
